August 30th, 2012 - While the night started on a high note for Dereck on Thursday evening at Jackson `Speedway (Jackson, Minnesota) the final result would not be what he had hoped. Twenty-seven Open Wheel Modifieds passed through the pit gate for the event, and after finishing second in his heat race he earned a spot in the redraw for the feature. The redraw presented him with the second starting spot alongside pole sitter, Jon Tesch. As the 30 lap feature went green Ramirez bolted to the lead and led the first three circuits before seeing Tesch slip by for the top spot. Over the remainder of the event Dereck battled the handle of his entry to an eleventh place finish. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com.

`August 29th, 2012 - After a much-welcomed break the team returned to action on Wednesday night at Fairmont Raceway (Fairmont, Minnesota) in the first of a five event stretch with the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup. Thirty-two competitors entered the event, and it was no surprise that once again Dereck drew one of the largest numbers at the pill draw, which left him starting eighth in the first heat race. He would only be able to advance one spot to a seventh place finish in the heat, and as a result he was forced to run a b-main. After starting seventh he passed four cars in the b-main to record a third place finish, which transferred him to the seventeenth starting spot in the 35 lap, $3,000-to-win finale. Unfortunately luck would not be on his side in the feature as he would be forced to retire to a 21st place finish. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com.

Despite starting deep in the field he advanced ten spots in the 40 lap feature on his way to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Jon Tesch, Rodney Sanders, Joey Jensen, and Al Hejna.

Sunday night found the team entering the final event of a five race stretch with a $3,000-to-win, Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup program at Nobles County Speedway (Worthington, Minnesota). In the main event he raced in the top ten for the duration of the feature before crossing the finish line in the tenth position.

Dereck now sits ninth in the latest Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup standings. Full results from both events as well as the latest standings are available at www.USMTS.com.

Forty-seven racers were on hand to contend for the win, and a big number at the pill draw left Dereck starting eighth in his heat race. The Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup event saw forty-two competitors entered to take a stab at the first place money. He drew the pole for his heat, but mechanical issues would relegate him to a fourth place finish, which sent him to a b-main. In the b-main he advanced to a fourth place finish, which resulted in him starting nineteenth on the grid for the 40 lap finale. He would hard charge nine spots in the feature to record a tenth place finish at the checkered flag. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com.

Heat race action found Dereck falling just short of accumulating enough points to lock into the feature, and as a result he was forced to run a b-main, which he won to earn the sixteenth starting spot on the grid for the 40 feature. He would race his way forward to the top ten by the race's midway point before a flat tire on lap 29 brought his night to a disappointing end in the 25th position.

On Sunday night Ramirez looked for better luck as the action shifted to Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri).
