1March 31st, 2012 - The final night of the King of America II Modified Nationals was held on Saturday night at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas). Via his qualifying night performance, Dereck started fourth in a b-main, which he won to lock into the 19th starting spot for the $20,000-to-win, main event. As the 75 lap, race went green Ramirez would drop back to as far as 26th on a hammer-down, racing surface. However he would soon mount a charge through the field. His charge would be hampered near the race's midway point, when he made contact with an already spinning competitor. Despite not starting the accident, he was sent to the tail of the field. A few laps later he would opt to retire from the event on lap 42. Ramirez was credited with a 22nd place finish in the final rundown. Full results are available at www.USMTS.com.

March 29th, 2012 - Thursday night found Dereck entering a preliminary event for the King of America II Modified Nationals at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas). Via time trials in the Casey's General USMTS-sanctioned event he started third in his heat race before passing one car to finish second. His heat race performance left him two spots short of locking into the feature, but earned him the pole position for the second b-main, which he won to earn the 14th starting spot for the 35 lap, preliminary feature. In the main event Ramirez advanced six positions to record an eighth place finish. With his first qualifying night complete, Dereck currently ranks sixteenth in the current standings out of 76 entries. He will try again on Friday night to lock into Saturday's finale. Full results are available at www.USMTS.com.

March 24th, 2012 - Dereck will be taking the upcoming weekend, March 23rd-24th, off from racing for a wedding. He will return to action on March 29th-31st with the 2nd Annual King of America Modified Nationals at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas).

March 17th, 2012 - Another $2,000-to-win, Casey's General USMTS Open Wheel Modified `event was held on Saturday night at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) on Saturday night, and again a loaded field of 70 competitors entered the event. For the second, straight night Dereck started seventh in his heat race before finishing in the fifth position. Via his heat performance he started seventh in a b-main and advanced to a second place finish, which earned him the 20th starting spot for the 40 lap feature. In the main event Ramirez advanced eight spots on his way to a 12th place finish. Full results are available at www.USMTS.com.

March 16th, 2012 - Friday night was an up-and-down outing for Dereck Ramirez as he entered the opening round of the Casey's General USMTS double header at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas). A stellar field of 73 Open Wheel Modifieds registered for battle, and Dereck's string of bad luck at the pill draw continued as he started seventh on the grid for his heat race. He passed two cars in his heat, which left him short of accumulating enough points to lock into the main event. As a result, he ran a b-main, where he finished third to earn the 21st starting spot for the $2,000-to-win, 40 lap feature.

As the main event went green Ramirez began marching toward the front of the pack and was up to the seventh spot by the race's midway point, when bad luck struck as he spun to bring out the caution. He would rejoin the tail of the field, and over the remainder of the event he rebounded to a 14th place finish at the checkered flag. Full results are available at www.USMTS.com.

March 8th, 2012 - The weekend's scheduled, Casey's General USMTS events at Heart O' Texas Speedway (Elm Mott, Texas) and Cowtown Speedway have fallen victim to Mother Nature, so the team will not be racing this weekend.

1March 4th, 2012 - The final leg of the 17th Annual Winter Meltdown/6th Annual Chub Daniels Memorial was held on Sunday afternoon at Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico). Dereck began the afternoon by winning a consolation event to earn the 11th starting spot on the grid for the 50 lap, $10,000-to-win feature. Ramirez would battle around mid-pack for the first half of the feature before the track took rubber making passing difficult. As a result, he would record a tenth place finish at the checkered flag. Full results are available at www.USRARacing.com.

March 3rd, 2012 - After missing a lock-in position to Sunday's $10,000-to-win, 17th Annual Winter Meltdown finale on Friday night, Dereck was looking for better luck on Saturday night. 1It would turn out to just not be his night though. Sixty-five Open Wheel Modifieds entered the event, and Ramirez' string of drawing poor numbers at the pill draw continued as he started seventh in his heat race. After not passing any cars he would finish seventh in his heat, which relegated him to a b-main. Dereck started thirteenth in the b-main, and passed six cars on his way to a seventh place finish, but with only the top four cars transferring to the feature, his night would come to an early end. He will try to transfer to the finale via preliminary action on Sunday afternoon. Full results are available at www.USRARacing.com.

March 2nd, 2012 - Dereck made the trek to Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico) for the opener of the 17th Annual Winter Meltdown on Friday night. Sixty-eight Open Wheel Modifieds registered for action in the USRA-sanctioned event. A fifth to second run in his heat race left Ramirez short of locking into the feature, but did position him in a pole-starting-spot for a b-main. He would record a second place finish in the b-main, which earned him the 16th starting spot for the 35 lap, preliminary feature. Dereck would charge through the pack to a sixth place finish in the main event, which was a solid run but unfortunately left him one spot short of locking into Sunday afternoon's finale. As a result, Ramirez will try again to lock into the finale via Saturday's preliminary action. Full results are available at www.USRARacing.com.
