`May 12th, 2012 - After seeing Friday night's action at RMP Speedway (Crandall, Texas) nixed by Mother Nature, the team traveled to Cowtown Speedway (Kennedale, Texas) on Saturday evening for a $4,000-to-win, Casey's USMTS National Championship event. A stout field of 58 competitors passed through the pit gate for the event, and heat race action would find Dereck slipping from the pole starting position to a third place finish, which relegated him to a b-main. In the b-main he advanced from the second starting spot to claim the win, which earned him the sixteenth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Ramirez battled around mid-pack for much of the event before mechanical woes with just four laps remaining sidelined him to a 17th place finish. Full results are available at www.USMTS.com.

May 10th, 2012 - Dereck resumed racing action with the Casey's USTMS Modified Series on Thursday night as a $4,000-to-win, 50 lap event `was held at Heart O' Texas Speedway (Elm Mott, Texas). A strong field of 50 competitors registered for battle, and in his heat race he passed three cars on his way to a fourth place finish. He would find himself short of accumulating enough points via his heat to lock into the feature, and as a result he was forced to run a b-main. In the b-main he claimed the convincing win to lock into the fifteen starting spot for the main event. The 50 lap finale would see him advance three spots to finish in the twelfth position. `May 6th, 2012 - A hot, early May weekend found Dereck taking part in a pair of Casey's USMTS National Championship point's events in Missouri. The weekend opened on Friday at LA Raceway (La Monte, Missouri) with a $4,000-to-win event as 45 competitors registered for battle. An eighth to fifth run in his heat race left Ramirez short of locking into the feature, and as a result he started fifth in a b-main. With the top six cars moving onto the feature Dereck finished fourth to lock into the 19th starting spot for the 40 lap, $4,000-to-win feature. He would methodically work his way forward to a seventh place finish in the feature.

On Saturday night the tour rolled into West Plains Motor Speedway (West Plains, Missouri) as it made its debut at the 3/8 mile oval. Forty Open Wheel Modifieds were in action, and it was no big surprise that a big number at the pill draw left Dereck starting ninth in his heat race. Despite starting at the back of the field in his heat he passed five cars to record a fourth place finish, which locked him into the eleventh starting spot for the main event. During the course of the 40 lap, $5,000-to-win feature, Ramirez passed four cars to record his second-straight, seventh place finish.
