April 27th, 2013 - After a few weeks away from the driver's seat due to Mother Nature and family functions, Dereck finally returned to the driver's seat of his #4r Ramirez Motorsports/Hughes Racing Chassis over the `weekend for a triple header with the USMTS.

On Thursday evening the action opened with a $4,000-to-win event at Texas Thunder Speedway (Killeen, Texas). With forty-one entries on hand to battle for the top prize Ramirez started his night by advancing from the fifth starting spot to a second place finish in his heat race, which locked him into the ninth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. In the feature Dereck raced his way forward to a sixth place finish behind race winner, Chris Brown, Stormy Scott, Zack VanderBeek, Kelly Shryock, and Johnny Scott.

Friday night found the festivities moving to Kennedale Speedway Park (Kennedale, Texas) for another $4,000-to-win race. A sixth to third run in the evening's third heat locked Dereck into the tenth starting spot for the 40 lap feature. Unfortunately mechanical issues in the main event relegated him to a twentieth place finish.

The weekend concluded on Sunday night in Ramirez' home state with a $4,000-to-win program at Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma). With forty-two entries in action Dereck won his heat race to earn a spot in the redraw. He was presented with the third starting spot for the finale, and had high hopes for a strong performance. However, he battled the handle throughout the event as he slid back to a twelfth place finish at the checkered flag.
