1February 22nd, 2014 - The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) invaded El Paso Speedway Park in El Paso, Texas on Friday night for the Inaugural 'Icebreaker' event. Opening night drew thirty-four competitors for the $2,000-to-win main event.

Dereck started the night off by finishing second in his qualifying heat race after he started fourth, earning him a fifth place starting spot for the main event after the redraw. Unfortunately his night came to an early end during the 30 lap feature and he was credited with a disappointing 19th place finish.

The weekend come to a close on Saturday night, thirty-five entries were signed in to do battle for the $3,000 prize. A second place finish in his heat race locked Dereck into the ninth starting spot for the 40 lap main event. During the course of the feature he raced in the top ten throughout the event before crossing the finish line in eleventh.

February 15th, 2014 - It was not the start that Dereck Ramirez was looking for in the opening night of the 5th Annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas.

Dereck finished fourth in his qualifying heat race after starting seventh and had to run a B-Main. Ramirez made the transfer into the 30 lap feature event when he finished fifth in the B-Main; he would roll off from the 21st position. During the course of the main event Dereck drove by nine other competitors on his way to a 12th place finish.

Round #2 saw Dereck start fifth in his qualifying heat race and winning, which locked him into a starting spot outside the front row for the $3,000-to-win feature event. During the course of the 40 lap feature, Ramirez led the first half of the race before relinquishing the top spot to Chris Brown just passed the halfway point. Dereck crossed the finish line in third after losing second to Rodney Sanders in the closing laps. Jeremy Payne and Zack VanderBeek rounded out the top five.

Dereck closed out the Spring Nationals weekend with the $4,000-to-win on Saturday night. Ramirez finished second in his qualifying heat after starting six, this earned Dereck a seventh place starting spot for the feature event. Ramirez was forced to retire his #4r Open Wheel Modified on lap 46 of the 50 lap feature with mechanical issues, this resulted in a disappointing 19th place finish.

February 9th, 2014 - The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) opened their 2014 season at South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi, Texas paying $3,000 to win the 2nd Annual Sparkling City Nationals.

Round #1 drew a total of 37 entries, Dereck missed the transfer in his heat race after finishing sixth but was able to make his way into the feature event when he finished second in the B-Main. However, Ramirez's night came to an early end when he tangled with Daniel Hilsabeck in turn one at the halfway point of the race, resulting in a disappointing 21st place finish.

The weekend came to a close with Round #2 of the 2nd Annual Sparkling City Nationals at South Texas Speedway. Dereck started sixth in his qualifying heat race and finished seventh, forcing him to run a B-Main. Ramirez finished fifth in his B-Main, earning him a transfer into the 40 lap feature event, starting 21st on the grid. Unfortunately, the bad luck continued for the #4r team when Dereck retired his machine after just 12 laps. He was credited with a 21st place finish.
