February 24th, 2017 - Picking back up with the United States Modified Touring Series, Dereck Ramirez was one of 47 cars signed in at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) on Friday for the third stint of the Summit Racing USMTS Southern Region presented by Production Jars. Coming from the 8th-starting position in his heat, Ramirez charged to a 2nd place finish behind Joe Duvall locking his spot into the opening night feature. Dropping out of the Top 10, Dereck slipped back to a 13th place finish.

On Saturday the USMTS followers traveled to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) for another chance at the $3,000 payday. Recording a 5th place finish in his heat, Dereck earned the 5th-starting position for his B-Main. Taking the Top 6, Ramirez edged his way into the A-Main with a 6th and final transfer spot. Passing 14 cars in the 40-lap feature, Dereck Ramirez reeled in an impressive 10th place finish.

For the final night of the Summit Racing USMTS Southern Region, Dereck was one 31 cars signed in at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) on Sunday. Starting in 4th in his heat race, Dereck locked his spot into the $3,000-to-win finale with a 3rd place finish. Rolling off 10th for the A-Main, Ramirez wheeled his way to a solid runner-up finish behind Ricky Thornton Jr. with Zack VanderBeek, Tyler Wolff, and Chris Brown completing the Top 5 finishers.

February 18th, 2017 - On Thursday night Dereck Ramirez returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Shady Oaks Speedway (Goliad, Texas) for the second round of the Summit Racing Southern Region presented by Production Jars. Drawing 44 cars, Ramirez came one position short of a transfer spot in his heat with a 4th place finish. Wheeling his way into a 12-lap consolation win, Dereck earned the 13th-starting spot for the opening night A-Main. Breaking into the Top 10, Ramirez moved up three spots in the 30-lapper scoring a 10th place finish.

Starting 3rd in his heat on Friday, Ramirez dropped one position sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 5 into the A-Main, Dereck secured his spot with a 3rd place finish. Passing five cars in the feature, Ramirez posted a 12th place outing.

Closing out the second round of the Summit Racing Southern Region on Sunday, Dereck came one position short again of a transfer spot in his heat with a 4th place finish. Reeling in a 2nd place outing behind Rodney Sanders in his B-Main, Ramirez earned the 15th-starting spot for the $4,000-to-win A-Main. With 40-laps to gain some ground, Dereck Ramirez advanced four positions to place 11th.

February 11th, 2017 - The 2017 racing season began for Dereck Ramirez at Cotton Bowl Speedway (Paige, Texas) on Thursday night for the season-opener of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). In a field of 42 Open Wheel Modifieds, Ramirez improved one spot in his heat registering a 5th place finish. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main, Ramirez secured his spot into the show with a 4th place finish. Rolling off 19th for the main event, Dereck Ramirez wheeled his way through the field 12 spots scoring a 7th place finish.

Returning on Friday for round two of the Summit Racing USMTS Southern Region presented by Production Jars, Dereck placed 5th in his heat sending him into the B-Main. Needing a 6th place finish or better in his consolation event, Ramirez scored a 3rd place finish setting him up with the 18th-starting spot for the feature. With $4,000 on the line, Dereck improved six spots in the 40-lapper logging a 12th place outing.

Starting in 7th in his heat on Saturday evening, Ramirez locked his spot into the $4,000-to-win finale with a runner-up finish behind Billy Vogel. Earning the pole position for the A-Main, Dereck held on to a Top 5 finish in the 50-lap affair recording a 4th place spot behind Chris Brown, Jason Hughes, and Ricky Thornton Jr. with Zack VanderBeek coming in 5th.
