July 22nd, 2017 - Dereck Ramirez returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Friday night traveling to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) for the two-day 7th annual Silver Dollar Nationals. Holding his spot in his first heat, Ramirez scored a runner-up finish behind Ryan Gustin. Rolling off 6th in his second heat, Derek passed three cars to place 3rd. With the Top 12 in points earning a spot into Friday’s Pole Dash, Ramirez slipped up three cars registering an 8th place finish.

Earning the 8th-starting positon for the $10,000-to-win finale on Saturday evening, Dereck Ramirez gained three spots in the 40-lapper notching a 5th place finish behind Ryan Gustin, Rodney Sanders, Cade Dillard, and Zack VanderBeek.

July 14th, 2017 - Competing in the opening round of the Badgerland Summer Shootout presented by Prestige Custom Cabinetry, Derek Ramirez visited Luxemburg Speedway (Luxemburg, Wisconsin) on Tuesday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned program. Passing three cars in his heat race, Ramirez scored a 3rd place finish locking him into the 11th-starting position for the opening night feature. Breaking into the Top 5, Derek advanced through the field seven spots reeling in a 4th place finish behind Zack VanderBeek, Ryan Gustin, and Cade Dillard with Benji LaCrosse coming in 5th.

Wednesday night Ramirez was one of 22 Open Wheel Modifieds signed in at 141 Speedway (Francis Creek, Wisconsin) for the second round of the Badgerland Summer Shootout. Holding his spot in his heat race, Dereck landed a runner-up finish behind Zack VanderBeek positioning him 2nd on the starting grid for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Holding his position again for all 40-laps, Dereck Ramirez notched a 2nd place spot behind VanderBeek with Cade Dillard, Ryan Gustin, and Lucas Schott completing the Top 5 finishers.

The following night with 33 entries on hand at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway (Oshkosh, Wisconsin), Ramirez charged through his heat seven spots picking up the 8-lap victory. Rolling off 6th for the feature, Dereck dropped two spots in the 40-lap affair recording an 8th place outing.

Closing out the four-day Badgerland Summer Shootout, Ramirez stopped at Plymouth Dirt Track (Plymouth, Wisconsin) on Friday evening. Jumping up one spot in his heat race, Dereck posted a 2nd place finish behind Jake Timm earning him the 6th-starting spot for the $3,000-to-win feature. Holding his position for all 40-laps, Ramirez notched a 6th place finish.
