March 25th, 2017 - Kicking off the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) MSD Central Region presented by Summit Racing, Derek Ramirez invaded Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) on Thursday for the opening night of the King of America VII Modified Nationals. Passing three cars in his heat race, Ramirez landed a runner-up finish behind Brady Gerdes earning him the 8th-starting position for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top 5, Dereck improved three spots in the 40-lapper notching a 5th place finish behind Mitch Keeter, Cade Dillard, Lucas Schott, and Josh Angst.

The following night competing in three rounds of heat races, Dereck followed up a 10-lap heat race win with a 5th place finish from the 9th-starting position. Passing two more cars in his final event, Ramirez posted a 2nd place spot behind Rodney Sanders setting him up with the 7th-starting position for the King of America VII Modified Nationals A-Main on Saturday night. With $10,000 on the line, Dereck Ramirez slipped up one spot in the 70-lap affair registering an 8th place outing.

March 11th, 2017 - On Thursday evening Dereck Ramirez was one of 42 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries signed in at Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) for the 5th annual Sooner Showdown presented by Production Jars. Starting on the pole of his heat race, Ramirez scored a 2nd place finish behind Cylde Dunn Jr. putting him 10th on the starting rundown for the feature. Losing two spots in the 30-lap affair, Dereck recorded a 12th place outing.

Starting in 6th in his heat race on Friday, Ramirez jumped up two positions to place 4th sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 6 out of the B-Main and into the feature, Dereck charged to a 15-lap consolation win earning him the 14th-starting position for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Working his way into the Top 10, Dereck Ramirez jumped up four positions recording a 10th place finish.

On Saturday for the final night of the Sooner Showdown, Ramirez stormed to a heat race victory from the 5th-starting position giving him the 3rd-starting position for the $4,000-to-win finale. Bringing home a podium finish, Dereck Ramirez improved one spot in the 40-lapper notching a 2nd place finish behind Rodney Sanders with Chris Brown, Zack VanderBeek, and Jason Hughes rounding out the Top 5.

March 4th, 2017 - Dereck Ramirez returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Thursday for the 6th annual Cajun Clash at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). With 39 cars signed in, Ramirez locked his spot into the opening night feature with a heat race victory from the 4th-starting position. Earning the 7th-starting spot, Ramirez slipped up two positions in the 30-lapper recording a 9th place finish.  

On Friday rolling off 7th in his heat race, Ramirez jumped up four positions to place 3rd and secure his spot into the A-Main. Starting in 11th, Dereck fell six spots logging a 17th place outing.

Wrapping up the 6th annual Cajun Clash on Saturday, Ramirez logged an 8th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the $4,000-to-win A-Main. Taking the Top 5, Dereck improved four spots in the 12-lap consolation event to grab the 5th and final transfer position. Coming from the 22nd-starting position in the feature, Dereck Ramirez wheeled his way through the field 14 positions scoring a 8th place finish and the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger award.
