July 21, 2018 - Returning with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), Dereck Ramirez invaded Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) on Tuesday night for the 12th annual Webster City Wrangle presented by AmericInn. With 30 cars on hand, Ramirez held his spot in his 8-lap heat race to place 8th. Earning the 10th-starting position for the opening night feature, Derek jumped up four spots notching a 6th place finish.

On Wednesday night at Southern Iowa Speedway (Oskaloosa, Iowa) for the Summit Racing Summer Classic., Derek edged his way into the $2,500-to-win A-Main with a 4th place finish in his heat. Rolling off 10th, Ramirez passed four cars in the 30-lapper to place 6th.

After having a scheduled off night on Thursday, 36 USMTS competitors headed to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) on Friday evening for the 8th annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals. Competing in two rounds of heat races, Ramirez gained four spots in his first heat to place 2nd behind Jake Timm. Starting his second heat in 4th, Derek scored a runner-up finish behind Lucas Schott locking his spot into the Wojo Painting Qualifier. Rolling off 8th for the $8,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday evening, Dereck Ramirez held his spot for all 40-laps to place 8th.
