March 17, 2018 - On Thursday evening Dereck Ramirez made the short trip to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) for the King of America VIII Modified Nationals opener. Drawing 78 Open Wheel Modifieds for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned weekend, Dereck secured his spot into the opening night feature with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Jake Hartung. With $2,500 on the line, Ramirez jumped up two spots to place 4th behind Kyle Strickler, Darron Fuqua, and Jason Krohn with R.C. Whitwell coming in 5th.

The following night for two rounds of heat races, Ramirez gained four spots in his first heat to place 5th. Starting 4th in his second heat, Dereck jumped up one spot posting a 4th place finish. Transferring into the B-Main on Saturday for another shot the main event, Ramirez grabbed a 20-lap consolation victory positioning him 13th on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. March 10, 2018 - For the fourth round of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Winter Speedweeks presented by MSD Performance, Dereck Ramirez was one of 50 cars signed in at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) on Friday night. Coming in 2nd in his heat behind Stormy Scott, Ramirez earned the 12th-starting position for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top-10, Dereck improved four spots reeling in an 8th place finish.

On Saturday night in a field of 43 cars at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), Ramirez posted a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Austin Bonner positioning him 12th on the starting grid for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Falling one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Dereck Ramirez improved six spots in the 40-lap affair to place 6th.

Sunday’s USMTS finale at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) was axed by Mother Nature.

March 2, 2018 - Dereck Ramirez returned with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Friday evening at Kennedale Speedway Park (Kennedale, Texas) for the third round of the Summit USTMS Winter Speedweeks presented by MSD Performance. Holding his spot in his 8-lap heat race, Ramirez logged a 9th place finish transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. Sending the Top-5 into the show, Dereck retired an 11th place outing ending his night early.

Bad weather rained out Saturday and Sunday’s USMTS events at Superbowl Speedway (Greenville, Texas) and Grayson County Speedway (Bells, Texas).
