January 13, 2019 - Dereck Ramirez returned to FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona) on Wednesday night for the second round of the Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. After posting a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Joe Duvall, Ramirez ran into mechanical issues in the 25-lap feature that dropped him back to a 22nd place outing.

After having Thursday night off, Ramirez recorded a 9th place finish in his heat race giving him one final chance at Friday’s A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Needing to place in the Top 4 to make the show, Dereck fell one spot short with a 5th place finish.

Returning on Saturday for the doubleheader, Dereck locked his spot into the A-Main with the third fastest time in his qualifying group. Rolling off 3rd, Ramirez outran polesitter Darrell Nelson to pick up his first win of the season and a $1,000 payday. Tyler Peterson, Nelson, Jacob Gallardo, and Alex Stanford rounded out the Top-5 finishers in the 15-lap affair.

Later Saturday night, Ramirez followed up a 7th place finish in his heat with a 12-lap consolation victory but Mother Nature eventually postponed the feature to Sunday. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Dereck passed 11 cars in the 25-lapper to place 7th.

Wrapping up the 13th annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday, Dereck secured his spot into the finale with 3rd place finish in his heat. With $2,000 on the line, Ramirez advanced his way up to a 3rd place finish trailing Ricky Thornton Jr. and Rodney Sanders across the line with Dustin Strand and Darrell Nelson completing the Top-5 finishers.
