March 23, 2019 - Thursday night found Dereck Ramirez in action at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) for the King of America IX Modified Nationals powered by Summit Racing Equipment. With 72 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries on hand for two rounds of heat races, Ramirez gained six spots in his first heat reeling in a 5th place finish. Starting on the front-row of his second heat, Dereck streaked to a 10-lap heat race victory positioning him tied for sixth in points after night one.

The following night for another two rounds of heats, Dereck jumped up three spots to place 2nd behind A.J. Diemel. Passing five cars in his second heat, Ramirez posted a 3rd place finish locking him into the 7th-starting position for the main event on Saturday evening. With $12,000 on the line, Dereck Ramirez was credited with a 15th place outing after retiring early from the 50-lapper on lap-25.

With possible tornadoes and rain in the forecast, Saturday’s $5,000-to-win finale fell victim to Mother Nature.
