Pair of top-10 finishes for Ramirez at Hunt County Raceway
Dereck Ramirez traveled to the Lone Star State over the weekend to take part in the first two days of action scheduled for the Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) in 2024.
On Friday, Ramirez’s Boomtest Well Service No.4R Modified was among 49 USMTS entries in the pits at Greenville, Texas’ Hunt County Raceway. The opening night of the ninth annual USMTS Texas Winter Nationals saw Ramirez finish third in his heat race on the quarter-mile oval and 10th in his B-Main. However, he used a provisional to start 23rd in the night’s $5,000-to-win feature. He charged forward 13 positions in the 40-lapper to take a 10th-place finish.
The next night, Ramirez was one of 50 USMTS drivers on hand at Hunt County. After winning his heat race, Ramirez began the 50-lap, $5,000-to-win finale from the seventh position. He came home in the fourth spot, following Jim Chisholm, Jason Hughes and Tanner Mullens under the checkered flag. Lucas Schott completed the top five.
After the first two races of 2024, Ramirez sits fifth in the USMTS point standings.
